Building is a little small which increases the wait. It's so worth the wait tho. Food was awesome.

Went on Wed at 9:30 am, small but several open tables. Selected this place based on reviews, was not disappointed. Easily gets 5 stars for a diner but since breakfast/brunch category includes snazzy restaurants w/great ambience I kept it at 4. Great attentive service, quickly served, very large portions. We had full stack (3) banana pancakes w/lots of sliced bananas baked in, and the special of the day, a Farmer's Omelette w/shrooms, cheese, peppers that's prepared almost like fritatta (but potatoes on the side) was perfect. Good basic hot coffee, hot tea served w/bag in small steel pot.

I had heard great things about this resturant. The food was good. The service was lousy. We came in close to closing. The cafe certainly wanted our money, but did not want us to linger over our coffee after lunch. The waitress was rude when we asked about where our meal was. The guy cleaning up basically told us to leave as he pointed the knives he was holding ( he was doing a set up for the next day. If restaurant did not want us to eat , the restaurant should have NOT taken us so close to closing. I will not go back and of course I will tell everyone I know about the rude service. BTW, I'm in the service industry. I try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I was shocked at the boldness of the staff.

I'm a diner fan. I look forward to the fast service, the charm of the waitresses (yeah, I'm easily flattered when refer to as "Sweetie Pie" and "Honey Buns"), the bottomless coffee cup, the available counter newspapers, the chit chat talk with other counter patrons and the healthy size portions at reasonable prices. In these categories Michael's Café delivers in spades and then some. Not only does it have all of the forgoing but oddly enough also has some charm and ambiance like flowers on the table as well as a cozy atmosphere which really makes you feel at home as opposed to being a part of a semi-cafeteria operation. Though they call it a "café," it actually strikes me as sort of a cross between a dinner and a café, tending more to the diner side of things with regards to food and service but more toward the café side with regards to décor and ambiance. The menu is extensive, a good listing of specials and even a complimentary mimosa with a board order on Sundays. I found the lunch meals I had to be tasty, good, basically presented in diner fashion but with quality in preparation. As far as diners go, and I would really call it a diner, its one of the best around which is evidenced by its popularity.

My boyfriend and I went to Michael's today and loved it. The place was small but service was so fast. The food was all freshly cooked and within mins of ordering we were served our first dish. I would highly recommend the french toast.

Quintessential small-town dinette feel. Good food, reasonable prices, cnn on the tv, local chatter. Waitresses are friendly. I go here regularly with a friend from home, not that you care.

What a find in an otherwise empty mall. Almost succeeds at being "quaint" in Florida which in itself is quite a feat! Just had breakfast today. The crab cake with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce was delicious. Split it with my friend's order of frittata which was also excellent.

  • Edward B.

I have been to Michael's Café twice and both times were an excellent experience. Their specials are truly innovative. Not your usual fare. The first time was with a crab omelette which was incredibly good. Today I had to crabcake with hollandaise sauce which was wonderful. Next time I will turn to try their crêpes! Truly five-star breakfast place.

  • Carol R.

Awesome food and so busy, but so worth it! Even have free Mimosas on Sunday when you order one of the specials. Mine was the quiche, and hubby had the crab cake eggs benedict. Great food!

So as many of you know already, I am a big breakfast/brunch fan. I had heard through yelp that Michael's Cafe had some serious game in that area, so I thought I would drop in and see what their all about. I actually expected them to be busier when I showed up around half past noon on a sunday, and while they had plenty of customers, I grabbed a spot at the bar since I was solo. The first thing I noticed was an immense Special Board with a ton of seemingly decadent specials, many involving pork. I also noticed that if you order from the special board, you will be treated with a free mimosa. This place has a lot of personality. I mean a lot. This place no doubt has the kind of vibe that either makes one want to be a regular or makes one doubtful about returning. I ordered the standard 2 egg & bacon deal and got the blueberry waffle on the side. All in all not a bad meal, good decent diner food and a straight 3 stars. One thing that I found particularly offputting was a manager berating on of the staff for a mistake she made on an order. It is not correct for the customers to hear that. We know that mistakes happen and that employees must be corrected when mistakes are made but humiliating them in front of the whole restaurant comes off as classless and lacking in managerial protocol.

Great food and staff. Check out the flap jacks in my picture. There is strawberry French toast too. Both are the best. The. Best.

Tucked away in a very quiet little shopping center is this tiny little treasure. There are two tables outside and very limited space inside. The waitress was very friendly and telling us to sit where we want. We opted for the last outside table and boy was it hot. Make sure there's a nice breeze when you decide to dine outside or your in for a scorcher. The inside was really chilly and refreshing though. I ordered my own custom little egg white & 2 biscuit sandwich with hash browns and my hubby got the 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 bacon strips platter. Everything came out extremely fast, the biscuits were perfectly toasted with lots of butter, and the egg whites looked a bit too buttery/oily. They tasted okay. I topped my little biscuit with egg white and hash browns and it was so good. The hash browns were on the undercooked side. Usually you like them more towards the brown in golden brown. My husband enjoyed everything as well. I sampled the pancake and it was just okay. Not extraordinary. Their prices are reasonable, everyone was always checking up on us and I know I'll be coming back for some biscuits.

Michael's Cafe is the Best and Freshest place to eat!!! We drive miles to go to Michael's!!! Great food and a Great Staff!!! I had a Chicken Marsala that was one of the best I'd ever had in my life!!! Everything is homemade from scratch! Delicious!!!!

  • Howard R.

Quaint little place, pretty decent service, but the egg white omelette was greasy and really bad tasting to the point of making me nauseous and not wanting to eat there again.

    (1)
  • Emily S.

Quaint and local, very reasonably priced and quick to bring out food. The customer service is excellent and it's evident that there are many repeat customers. I will definitely be returning. I ordered two eggs, toast, hash browns and coffee which was all cooked to perfection and only cost $3.75. You can't beat it. My boyfriend got the French toast and absolutely loved it.

  • Ryan R.

Not only is the food great -- the service was outstanding. The omelette is stuffed full and not at all watery. The veggie omelette is so full! Broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, spinach...was awesome with feta. And they have locally made hot sauce in addition to Tabasco and Crystal! The coffee service was on point even though they were full. Such attentive and sweet service. Some guys chatted with the waitress about their trip tomorrow to Costa Rica but forgot their card. The waitress sprinted afterward so nervously. I thought they just didn't pay the bill but she told me the story when she returned. They were kind, homey, good quality, large portions -- couldn't ask for more from a diner!

  • Jessica S.

Very yummy, servings are huge, FYI. Small little spot but really nice if you have no more than 4 maybe 5 people. We live just down the road so we can walk there and the choices are always excellent. The homemade sausage is wonderful as well! I got the Parisian crepes. The brie was a tad overpowering since there was alot in it and the portion was a monster. Only ate half. Nice spot for couples breakfast though. Sit outside and enjoy the air. People bring dogs all the time to sit outside too! Doggy friendly!!

  • Jonathan A.

For such long lines I was far from impressed on the service and food. My omelette was wet and the home fries / potatoes were extremely greasy. I'm glad we got a chance to try it as its right in our backyard. It's also small on the inside, so it can be tight and the service wasn't great because it was so busy. The waitresses seemed overwhelmed. It just goes to show you that if you can make half way decent food out east.....people will come. Now if you can really make blow your mind amazing omelettes, home fries,French toast, and pancakes...you will have yourself a goldmine.

Great little spot to have brunch. Quality of the food is great. This is one of the restaurants where whatever you order is made with love. I always eat their omelettes and I never leave disappointed. Impressed with the fact that even if the place is full, you will be seated right away which only shows fast and great service. Definitely a hidden gem of a restaurant. Check them out...

Best lunch place in town. Been going here for over 10 years. Specials are great but so is the whole menu. Service is excellent and friendly. Sunday breakfast specials can't be beat!

You want breakfast this is the place for it quiche, burgers order off special board get a free momosia it's been there forever small w/ a counter . Waitress real sweet plenty of free parking . The corn beef hash is what dreams are made of the way they cook the eggs is something you always read about in a fairy tale but they make it come to life. If you like breakfast...correction if you love breakfast come to michael's cafe you will feel close to a god after eating this scrumptious meal.

Sah. Good. We had a little bit of a wait when we got here for Sunday Brunch and after agonizing over the Specials Menu (when you ordered off the Special Menu, you got a free mimosa, so, duh, specials it was) for about 30 minutes because everything looked good, we ended up getting the German Breakfast, Filet Mignon en Croustade and the Strawberry French Toast (because brunch). The shnitzel was great, as was the filet puff pastry and the french toast. Everyone who helped us was really friendly and the staff was on top of their game. Honestly, I'm having a hard time putting into words how good everything was. The place is VERY small, but it's exactly the kind of business I love: hidden gem. You aren't going to find designer decor or luxe booths at this place just fantastic food and a creative, mouht-watering menu, which is what I think a restaurant should be all about.

    (5)
  • Emily B.

Really friendly service! Loved all of the staff. Small place that many of the locals seem to go to. Each meal is quite heavy so just keep that in mind when ordering. They put tons of butter on the bread or bagels so ask for it on the side if you're not a huge fan. They actually gave us some on the side after putting tons on. Overall great place to have breakfast! Really enjoyed it!

  • Kevin H.

Im sincerely glad I received a response from Michael who is obviously a sadly dilusional owner of the reasuarant. I simply gave my review of the complete and utter lack of any acknowledgement while I stood there for over 10 minutes. I have no issue with a wait but no one said a word to my girlfriend or I until we finally proposed to sit at an outside table, "not there" was muttered by your "great staff". Get with the times you turd waffle! Your lack of a proper response to a valid problem I encountered only showcases the crude and crass manner by which your dismal business is run. Good luck I'd prefer to eat stale cereal w/ sour milk before going back in there for breakfast. You're a true disappointment!

Great food, friendly staff, small place with capacity at 40. I got the tuna diet platter which was really good. My fiancée got an eastern omelette and sausage gravy which he really liked too. We'd go back.

This place never disappoints me. It is a definite gem of a breakfast place! It is a small place, easy to miss, in a less than glamorous strip mall. However, if you like a warm and friendly breakfast experience, this is the place to go. The price is right, very cheap for very good food, something that is not common to come across in this area. Couple that with the super service, and it is a great way to start the day. The menu is vast, boasting breakfast staples, such as bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, french toast, etc. to delicious crepes. They also have a lot of options for lunch, and they always have daily specials that sound amazing. There is something for everyone. Would not recommend if you have a large party, since most tables seat either 2 or 4 people, and there are only about two outdoor tables usually.

    (5)
  • Emma D.

This cafe has GREAT food ! I had the Greek omelette very delicious they gave me so much feta I used it as spread on whole wheat bread. Large sized meals as well as daily specials . THE ONLY CON is that this place is VERY SMALL could not be 1000 sq feet , and the bar is tiny! I was so close to others as I was eating but it's a nice environment.

The restaurant is hidden away in on a side street opposite the Outback. We almost didn't go in as the sign said they closed at 2:30 PM and having been a server for 38 years I know what it is to get a late party and it was already 1:50. As we were walking in one of the two waitresses was leaving and we were the only party. As it is a breakfast and lunch place we knew we would just have a quick sandwich and would be out before the server finished her sidework. It is a small comfortable place with maybe 5-6 deuces and 3 four tops plus a counter and under the counter was a place to hang an umbrella or a purse. Taking the server's recommendation I had Michael's Melt ($6.25) with a side of cole slaw and coffee ($1.75) while Allen had a tuna sandwich with a side of poato salad ($6.25) and a iced tea ($1.75.) It had been years since I had a melt and this was perfect and Allen was impressed with his sandwich. Around 2:15 people started piling in not even looking at the hours sign and probably not caring. Within a few minutes there 4 parties consisting of 2 dueces, 2 parties of three each and a party of 5--who asked for separate checks!!!! (I just know they didn't tip extra like why not just divide the check by 5? It's a lunch place with the highest price item being, maybe, $8.99.) In any case the server (I wish I could remember her name) took care of everyone in an efficient manner, with a smile and even chatting when she had a chance. There was a lady who helped her--a bus person?--who I wished had been around in the days I worked with bus people! The cook (also owner? Manager?) and his assistant (dishwasher?) were fast and present all the plates I saw in a great display of the food he cooked. All in all, with tax and tip, the check came to $20 plus change--one of the full service restaurant lunch meals I have had in a long time. Good food, good service a small intimate place like this is a perfect place for a lunch and I will be back to try their breakfast.

I'll be honest, when I was being taken to this café, I was dreading it. Why? I just looked at the pictures on Yelp and it didn't look like my cup of tea. Upon arriving, I realized how dead wrong I was. Just goes to show you how you shouldn't judge a café by its picture. Michael's Café has a wide variety of delicious sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items on their menu. It is one of the smallest restaurants I have eaten in outside of Manhattan. The service is spot on, and the food is addictive. If you go at breakfast or lunch hour expect to have trouble getting a seat.

Wow. I've been driving past this place for some time now and seen a lot of cars parked outside. If your not looking, you will miss it. Pretty much an empty strip mall on the southwest corner of N Federal highway and NE 62 street. The place is very small. People are lined up on weekend mornings. Small counter space and few tables Read the daily specials. You will find many specials that you wish you can try everyone of them. Crepes, pancakes and eggs Benedict to die for Free mimosa with specials. Tasty coffee. Egg and You watch out. This is now the place. I found service to be attentive, but busy. Give it a try

  • Precious C.

Greeted at the door with smiles. Someone was at our table within seconds of sitting down. I got a jumbo croissant with sausage egg and cheese, grits with cheese and hash-browns. Everything was cooked to perfection. The only con is the place is small.

    (4)
  • Justin L.

Excellent food! I always keep my eyes on the specials for the day. A busy, tight fit.... But it fits the atmosphere and worth any wait necessary.

  • Adam C.

Love this place - small and cozy with great service and consistently excellent food. Always a couple of fun specials to add to the mix. The pork schnitzel and eggs is always a sell-out, as is the Strawberry French Toast. Try the French Crepes, the home made chicken salad, and an outstanding Eggs Benedict. Daily homemade soups and desserts to choose from. And the kitchen offers both home fries AND hash browns

I live in the area and come here occasionally when I want a good breakfast. The food here is really good and the prices are reasonable. It is small and cozy and frequented by the older Fort Lauderdale crowd. The staff is OK. I've noticed that you get better service if you are a regular though.

Excellent breakfast! Hidden gem in the Imperial Point neighborhood. Bagels, eggs, all freshly made. Highly recommend.

  • Maurice C.

This is a pretty good mix of American diner with French/European cafe. They usually have some good specials along with their usual breakfast fare like omelets. They have a special breakfast sandwich which comes with eggs, ham, and brie on a really great authentic French roll. The Spanish omelet that comes with cheddar and chorizo on the inside, and topped with Spanish style tomatoes and peppers is very good. This place is pretty popular and pretty compact, so sometimes it's hard to get seated, but it's worth it. If you can, try to arrive fairly early. The service is adequate and the staff is friendly and jokes around with regulars. There definitely are a lot of regulars who love the place, and with good reason I'd say.

Recently I callled in a take out order and was hung up on twice by a very nasty waitress. I myself have been in the biz for 20 years and can't possibly imagine speaking to a customer like that, I spoke with owner and he was very nice but have a feeling doesn't care too much about customer service. A shame because I live in neighborhood and enjoyed going there and picking up food. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

After reading reviews on yelp decided to try it. We ordered the crab omelette which was delicious and I had the French creeps (mushrooms, Swiss cheese, ham). Our waitress told us it was a lot of food and it was. The creeps were huge and quite honestly could satisfy two normal appetites. We arrived at 8:30 am on Sunday and by 9:00 the place was packed. Friendly service and phenomenal food for very reasonable price.

So far, I asked for fresh fruit and they attempted to pawn off frozen fruit as fresh. It's pretty small and overcrowded. Waitresses and friendliness are ok. Coffee is pretty good. Decorations are pretty funny. Oatmeal is not fresh. Staff doesn't keep track of all tables. It's so small. Shouldn't be that hard. There is no Splenda in the sugar jar. Hopefully, my egg white omelet is all right. :)

Great neighborhood diner/café! The Sunday Specials w/ mimosa are worth the trip. The staff is pleasant. The food is well seasoned, and portions are ample. Bottomless coffee cup offered. The prices are great. A real gem. I look forward to going there on weekends.

This place epitomizes the very definition of quaint. It has that old diner feel with only two tables big enough for four people and those lovely sweet ladies that instantly make one's day better. All I kept reading on Michael's Cafe was the Blue Crab Omelette was a must try. Surprise, Surprise. I got the.... Blue Crab Omelette. It was fantastic. The crab did not taste like canned crab. I may be wrong, but it sure tricked me. For seven dollars, I got the fantastic blue crab omelette, toast, and potatoes. Not a bad haul and I was very full. This place has everything I look for in a morning diner. Great food. Check, Sweet waitress. Check. Mom and pop shop. Check. I will certainly be back for that omelette.

Great place, friendly staff....I love the french toast, it was amazing...best I've had so far, and everything else has been delicious...the daily specials that I've tried have been yummy... it's small, but we'll worth the wait!!!! :-)

I was looking for a breakfast place on a random Thursday and I ran into this random little place. I was pleasantly surprised by my meal. I had the eggs Benedict and they were fabulous! It is so rare for a small diner like this to get that nice tang in the hollandaise sauce but they nailed it! My reaction to the eggs was so positive and evident that the guy next to me ordered them too! The home fries were good but my side of bacon was a bit disappointing as it was severely burnt.

  • Rachel S.

I came here with some friends for a late breakfast. This place is tiny; only two tables that could seat four people at a time. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with the menu, explaining that the hash browns are frozen but the home fries are fresh. I had the waffle, which was only okay: not crispy, not very large, doused in powdered sugar, and left me wanting. If I were to go back, I'd probably try the huge omelets or the crepes, which looked the size of a burrito.

  • Isme F.

GREAT FOOD TERRIBLE SERVICE... A colleague referred me to this place and I have to say the food was AWESOME and reasonably priced. Wish I could say the same for the service. I had a waitress, Dee...rude and obnoxious, acted like she didn't want to be bothered with us. Acted upset because I asked for a glass of water. To top things off, she obviously didn't appreciate my tip which made her attitude even worse when she brought me my receipt. I REFUSE TO TIP ANYONE THAT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT A CUSTOMER. As for my colleague's and I we won't be visiting this place again. It's a shame great food .... VERY LOUSY SERVICE.

A friendly neighborhood place for a good filling breakfast. Try the crepes.

  • John F.

SMALL, but awesome. Local joint, better than egg and u, where I am a regular. Creative daily specials, that make this more than a greasy spoon. One of the specials today was pulled pork over a biscuit and covered in sausage gravy. If they had legitimate grits, I would have been hard pressed to not give this a 5 star. Awesome, fresh omelets with creative flavors Good coffee, great service- our coffee cups were never even 1/2 empty. We are looking forward to our next visit.

  • Chich S.

Nice, quaint little breakfast place that has the "family owned and operated" feel to it that I enjoy. I got the special, which was a filet mignon. I guess my expectations for something named filet mignon was a thick cut, small disc of a steak that I typically get when I order it. I guess I should've known better than to expect that for the low price they were charging for it, and it seemed to look and taste more like a basic thin cut steak. I did get a taste of the dishes from other places on the table, which were pretty good. Next time I will order a crepe! :)

  • Charles L.

This is a great mom-and-pop restaurant that is a wonderful place for breakfast/brunch! We are in town for about five days and came here for breakfast almost every day. The prices are very reasonable and the food is great. I would recommend the breakfast croissant sandwich with a side of hash browns. Delicious and cheap!

  • Larry S.

It was ok. I hate when they put a blob of butter on cold toast & it doesn't melt. Eggs on floor the whole time I was there (part of an omelette from a previous customer). Coffee was just ok. Don't see what the rave is all about. Sorry. Won't be back.

  • Darryl S.

WOW! Amazing blue crab omelet (a Sunday special -- but not every Sunday)! This omelet is packed with blue crab meat; it's truly is amazing, esp. for the price! Tasty home fries. Complimentary mimosa (if you choose one of their half-dozen or so daily specials). Great, friendly, old-school service and staff! The place is very compact and popular with regulars, so you've gotta get there early. This is, hands-down, my favorite Sunday brunch place to go...!! (And prices are cheap!) :D

  • HeightsGirl S.

Great breakfast, friendly service, cheap prices, kitschy and clean - everything to love about a diner. The place is tiny, but we were okay since there were just two of us. A larger group would likely have to wait for one of the only two tables that seat 2+. But it's worth the wait! The menu is eclectic. I had the breakfast crepes, and the order is HUGE! I took one of the two home for the next morning. My partner had french toast and potatoes. Really tasty. Go check out Michael's Cafe!

    (5)
  • Kate C.

This is a quaint little place, and the service was fine, but the cleanliness needs work. My main problem is that they advertise their crepes heavily, and they are really quite poor quality, not authentic and not very good. I'm sure other food is decent, and I hate to give a mediocre review, but "I've had better" sums it up perfectly. DO not go here for the crepes, or if you want a better experience than perhaps that of a waffle house.

While here on vacation, we've been trying different local places each day for breakfast. I love Michael's cafe. I had a Greek omelette, which was excellent; lots of feta cheese, spinach and tomato. The grits are wonderful; very creamy and well seasoned. Probably the first time I've not had to add something to grits. The stuffed crepes were also great! If you're looking for a nice breakfast with that hometown diner feel, this is the place. Service was terrific too, even though the place was very busy.

  • Russell J.

Went there because of the past responses posted here. Its a very small place, seems everyone knows everyone else hence a local place. Friendly very good service. Wife had the quiche (their special of the day) she really liked it would and would recommend it. I had the meat lovers omelet I do not recommend it, the egg was fried and folded over a barrage of meat. We would try it again just not the omelet.

I am a regular, if i dont cook breakfast at home i come here, very good food and prices, intimate and friendly atmosphere and staff, food is very consistent and the specials are ABSOLUTELY GREAT! Crab Omelets, Portobello Fritattas, etc. This place nails basic and easy french cuisine at a low low price. You can have a delicious breakfast crepe for 1/3 of the price you'd pay in Las Olas. Yes, service can be a bit off here and there but they treat you so nicely and the food is SO good and affordable.

Great food and staff. Check out the flap jacks in my picture. There is strawberry French toast too. Both are the best. The. Best.

Quaint little place, pretty decent service, but the egg white omelette was greasy and really bad tasting to the point of making me nauseous and not wanting to eat there again.

The corn beef hash is what dreams are made of the way they cook the eggs is something you always read about in a fairy tale but they make it come to life. If you like breakfast...correction if you love breakfast come to michael's cafe you will feel close to a god after eating this scrumptious meal.

Sah.

  • Martin G.

  • Marqus R.

  • Rosalia G.

Greeted at the door with smiles. Someone was at our table within seconds of sitting down. I got a jumbo croissant with sausage egg and cheese, grits with cheese and hash-browns. Everything was cooked to perfection. The only con is the place is small.

What a find in an otherwise empty mall. Almost succeeds at being "quaint" in Florida which in itself is quite a feat! Just had breakfast today. The crab cake with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce was delicious. Split it with my friend's order of frittata which was also excellent.

    (5)

Awesome food and so busy, but so worth it! Even have free Mimosas on Sunday when you order one of the specials. Mine was the quiche, and hubby had the crab cake eggs benedict. Great food!

  • Richard K.

  • Daniel O.

    (4)
